Maldivene igjen

Gammelt nytt, men fint at saken tas opp i et bredt forum som Document.no.

"Ifølge klimaaktivistene vil Maldivene snart synke i havet.

Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly and applying the wrong remedies.

STOR flyplass, STORE fly:
"The 3,400-meter-long, 60-meter-wide runway will open the airport to the Airbus A380 jetliner, the world's largest passenger airline."

Og en syrlig kommentar:
"So: Chinese, Saudi and Kuwaiti money and Chinese engineers to build a new runway on coral atolls which – according to environmentalists – are one of the places at the world most at risk from 'climate change'.

This suggests one of two possible conclusions.

Either this is a public-spirited gesture by donor nations keen to help the Maldives' population of 400,000 be evacuated as quickly as possible by air before the islands are finally inundated by rising sea levels.

Or, outside the gullible West, no one believes in "climate change.""

"'Sinking' Pacific nation Tuvalu is actually getting bigger, new research reveals
Scientists have long thought the Pacific nation of Tuvalu would disappear
This is because climate change-driven sea level rise would swallow it up
But, new research has found that the atoll has actually grown by about 3%

A University of Auckland study examined changes in the geography of Tuvalu's nine atolls and 101 reef islands between 1971 and 2014, using aerial photographs and satellite imagery.

It found eight of the atolls and almost three-quarters of the islands grew during the study period, lifting Tuvalu's total land area by 2.9 percent, even though sea levels in the country rose at twice the global average."

"A round of golf on a course surrounded by sea might seem like a strange idea. However, add in the fact that said sea is the stunning Indian Ocean and throw in a cooling cocktail at the 19th hole and suddenly the idea seems to have legs.
The Maldives has revealed plans for a radical £320m floating course, which players access by an undersea tunnel. The course is part of a massive plan to replace the sinking islands with a network of man made, floating islands.

With an average elevation of just five feet above sea level the Maldives, with its 1,192 islands in the Indian Ocean, is the lowest country in the world. Amid fears many of the islands will soon sink into the sea, the Maldivian government has started a joint venture with the architectural firm Dutch Docklands International to build the world's largest series of artificial floating-islands."

"Dutch Docklands, that gained global media attention in 2011 for plans to build an 18-hole floating golf-course in the Maldives, was awarded five lagoons in Kaafu Atoll, all within 25 minutes of Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (Malé airport) as part of a joint venture with the Maldivian government in 2011. The five-lagoon plan also includes 185 overwater luxury villas and a convention center.

A Dutch Docklands' official said the designs for the floating islands are yet to be approved by the tourism ministry. However, the company hopes to begin construction by the end of the year."

Bare 25 min. fra hovedflyplassen på Maldivene!
